Nominations Open for 2017 SAME DC Post Awards Program

Do you know a client or colleague you would like to recognize for their exceptional contributions? The Washington DC Post is soliciting nominations for its 22st Annual Awards to be presented at the Awards Luncheon at the National Press Club on January 18, 2018. There are categories to recognize professionals of any age or expertise:

  • Distinguished Service to the Washington Post
  • Outstanding Contributions to the Engineering Profession
  • Outstanding Contributions to Architecture
  • Outstanding Contributions by Young Military Member
  • Outstanding Contributions by Young Civilian Member
  • Young Member Award
  • Outstanding Contributions to Technology or the Engineering Profession
  • Outstanding Contributions to Marketing and/or Communications
  • Sustaining Business of the Year (Small, Medium and Large)
  • Post Service Award

Please take the time to nominate an individual for an award – the process is simple. The awards, criteria for selection, nomination forms and nomination procedures are located here. Recipients of Washington Post awards will also be nominated for SAME National awards.

Leadership & Mentoring Program Graduation Dinner Dec 5th

Please join the SAME DC and NOVA Posts for our Leadership & Mentoring Program Graduation Dinner on December 5th at the Army Navy Club.  Our program participants include Young Members from Industry and the Government who have dedicated themselves over the past year to developing their leadership skills through the program’s monthly sessions with SAME Fellows and other senior mentors.  We invite all SAME members to join us in celebrating their accomplishments.

SAME Foundation Now Accepting Donations

Spring 2016 SAME established the Society of American Military Engineers Foundation ("Foundation") as a separate 501(c)3 tax exempt organization to provide a secure and beneficial repository for charitable and other bequeaths from members of the Society and the public at large. In addition, the Fund will separate the philanthropic objectives of the Society from the Society's day to day operations. The primary purpose of the Foundation is to continue to promote the strategic goals of the Society and to support the development and growth of members and future members. Therefore, spending will include but is not limited to the following:

  • Funding member professional development and career advancement programs, including negotiating certification discounts, and then funding the programs
  • Providing stipends to fund member travel to SAME events
  • Supporting SAME Engineering & Construction Camps
  • Promoting STEM-related initiatives
  • Providing scholarships to students who are pursuing degrees in STEM-related fields
