Sixth Annual Awards Ceremony and Installation of new Officers and Directors

Washington DC 2012 Olympic Bid
Chuck Levergood, Project Director for the consortium of consultants working for the CRC 2012 Olympic Bid, provided an update on the bid effort based upon the latest bid submission to the U.S. Olympic Committee.

World Trade Center Emergency Response and Building Performance Study
Dr. Charles Thornton, Chairman The Thornton-Tomasetti Group, provided a presentation on New York City's response to the World Trade Center Emergency. He summarized New York City's response to this overwhelming tragedy and provided details on the management of the structural engineering required at the World Trade Center site. Eric Letwinwill, Greenhorne & O'Mara, Inc. gave an overview of the more significant findings and recommendations of the recently released FEMA report entitled World Trade Center Building Performance Study.

Update on the Infrastructure Security Partnership (TISP)
The Infrastructure Security Partnership (TISP) was formed in direct response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington DC. The partnership brings together key public and private sector professionals whose expertise and experience have a direct impact on the future security of America's built environment. TISP's purpose is to facilitate national dialogue and cooperation on domestic infra-structure security among the agencies, organizations, and professionals who design, build, and protect the nation's critical infrastructure. Dwight Beranek, PE, Chief, Engineering and Construction Division USACE HQ, gave a presentation describing the accomplishments of TISP in it's first year of existence.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Role in the Global War on Terrorism
Major General Hans Van Winkle, Deputy Commanding General, addressed the role played by the USACE in the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT). He gave examples from the response and recovery efforts at the Pentagon and the World Trace Center from the time right after the 9/11 attacks. He also discussed the Corps' efforts in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (the GWOT Warfight) in Afghanistan and Operation Noble Eagle (the Homeland Security mission).
